Three men charged in drug trafficking bust at Sarnia townhome

Sarnia police arrested a group of men on Thursday relating to an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

On July 20, members of the Sarnia Police Vice Unit, along with the SPS Emergency Response Team conducted a search warrant at 9-975 Colborne Road.

During the search, three men were taken into custody. Officer seized several weapons, illegal drugs and cash including:

-CZ 75 D Compact 9 millimetre handgun, loaded with live rounds of ammunition.

-Smith and Wesson M&P 2.9 9mm handgun loaded with live rounds of ammunition.

-18.85 grams of fentanyl, valued at $3,298.75.

-$4,265 in cash

“This was the result of a lengthy investigation into [an] ongoing drug trafficking activities involving illegal street drugs,” read a statement from Sarnia police.

The three men, a 41-year-old from Sarnia, and two Toronto men, face a combined total of 52 charges including careless storage of a firearm, careless storage of a prohibited device, careless storage of ammunition, possession a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 among other offences.

“These types of criminal investigations, along with the involved offenders, are increasingly multi-jurisdictional in nature. We remain very concerned about the risks these handguns could have posed to our community and our front line officers,” said Police Chief Derek Davis. “Our VICE unit, with the assistance of our Emergency Response Team, did an excellent job in safely arresting these individuals and removing these weapons and drugs from our streets.”

The accused were held in police custody for a bail hearing.
