The London Knights reached a new milestone in the organization and its foundation's charitable endeavours.
Through the London Knights Alumni Foundation, the team made its largest ever single year donation to charities throughout the city. According to the Knights, this was possible after fans snapped up 50/50 tickets sold at games throughout the 2022-2023 season and postseason, raising a record $847,755.
"The London Knights Alumni Foundation is grateful for the trust and support received from the fans of the London Knights Hockey Club," said Foundation President Rick Doyle. "Through their generosity we are pleased to offer this $75,000 contribution to the Children’s Health Foundation, and we look forward to continuing our support of many charitable organizations in London that provide valuable services to the community that we live in.”
Last season, the Knights had pledged to donate $100,000 to Children’s Health Foundation, the fundraising arm of Children's Hospital, over a four to five year period. The organization is now just $25,000 away from honouring that commitment.
"Children’s Hospital is a very important part of our community and close to the hearts of the London Knights and our fans," said Knights General Manager Mark Hunter. "Many players that have come through our organization have built strong relationships with kids and their families through our hospital visit program that lasts to this day. We are proud of this donation.”
In addition to the $75,000 handed to Children’s Health Foundation, the Knights also gave to Ronald McDonald House, Boys and Girls Club, Sunshine Foundation, London Food Bank, MADD Canada, Marner Assist Fund, Hockey Helps the Homeless, Humane Society London & Middlesex, Canadian Mental Health Association, and ANOVA.
