The Bannister Park in Goderich is now officially open.
The former Ag. Park underwent a $3.8 million upgrade and councillor Trevor Bazinet said the expansion is exciting.
"The new features are the skate park, which we never had, the playground, which we never had, and an additional ball diamond," said Bazinet. "So now we have three baseball diamonds, a soccer pitch, a skate park and a playground all in one big area."
Bazinet said with the additions, they could host 60 to 70 teams at the facility.
"I've also had other tournament organizers reach out to me saying they want to move their tournament from their current location to our new location here in town," he said.
Bazinet added more teams playing out of Bannister Park will generate more immediate revenue, but will also bring more people into Goderich who will spend money in local stores and restaurants.
