Police are investigating after an eight-month-old boy was thrown from a horse-drawn buggy in a crash east of Wingham.
The Ontario Provincial Police said on Sunday shortly before 5:19 p.m., a pickup truck, driven by a 20-year-old man, collided with a horse-drawn buggy at the intersection of Gorrie Line and Howick-Turnberry Road in Howick. Police allege that the driver of the pickup failed to yield for the buggy.
The buggy was carrying six people, including the eight-month-old who was ejected from vehicle onto the roadway. He was rushed to hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. The other five occupants suffered minor injuries.
No charges have been laid at this time.
This is the second horse-drawn buggy crash in the same area in just over a month.
The OPP is asking drivers to be wary of slow-moving vehicles such as horse-drawn vehicles and farm equipment, and to share the road.
