The search continues today for a suspect who has evaded police for a week.
An off duty officer with the Hanover Police Service noticed a suspicious male carrying a gas can Friday evening around 7:15pm. That suspect was believed to be 33-year-old Kyle Moore of no fixed address.
Moore is wanted by the Huron County OPP and the Sarnia Police Service on a number of criminal charges.
Hanover officers located the suspect at the intersection of 8th St. and 12th Ave., in Hanover. A foot chase ensued and the suspect fled into a residential area through backyards. The area was contained with the assistance of the OPP and the West Grey Police Service.
A search was conducted with the assistance of the Canine Unit and the OPP.Emergency Response Team, but the suspect was not found.
The Hanover Police Service later located a stolen pickup truck near the contained search area. That truck has been reported stolen to the Lambton County OPP.
Saturday morning, the Hanover Police Service received a report of a stolen Ford Escape from the 400-block of 9th St., in Hanover. The Escape was later recovered in Desboro by Grey County OPP.
The suspect was last seen wearing a three-quarter-length camouflage coat with an attached camouflage hoodie, along with a red ball cap and dark coloured pants.
Investigators have been in contact with the Wingham Police Service and the OPP in Huron and Lambton counties.
