The mayors of Kincardine, Huron Kinloss and Arran Elderslie met with Infrastructure Minister Bob Chiarelli about their natural gas project on Tuesday.
Mayors Anne Eadie, Mitch Twolan and Paul Eagleson are in Toronto at the ROMA conference.
They discussed how they might take advantage of the expanded $100-million natural gas grant program announced Monday.
Chiarelli offered advice on how they could revise the proposal with Epcor to bring natural gas to southern Bruce communities to take advantage of the new program.
Grant applications open in the spring.
The Epcor project will cost about $120-million, with Epcor promising no taxpayer dollars will be spent on the construction project to bring natural gas lines to the region.
Epcor hopes to begin construction later this year, starting with a transmission grid in two segments totaling 110 km and then a distribution network of 145 km.
