The Hanover Barons have forced Game 7 in the PJHL Pollock Division Final.
Hanover won in Mitchell, 4-3 in overtime, after falling behind 2-0 early in the first period.
Mitchell scored twice in just over a two-minute span in the first period. Braeden Burdett scored at 4:27 followed by a Zach Dow goal at 6:36.
The Hanover Barons were stymied by the Mitchell defence and goalie Tyler Parr until midway through the second period. Bryan Richardson jumped on a rebound on the power play to get on the board. Then Jonah White scored his first of the playoffs, also on the power play, at 13:51 elevating the puck at close range.
But just 19 seconds later, Mitchell went ahead 3-2 as Tyson Hall fired a puck at the net from the boards and it snuck by Riley McCabe on the far post.
In the third period, Mitchell had an opportunity to go up by two goals after a giveaway by Hanover. But McCabe made the save, challenging the shooter. Moments later, Owen Torrie blocked another shot and carried the puck up the right wing. Torrie was able to cut to the Mitchell net and lifted a backhand over Parr.
With the game tied at three, both teams went back and forth but ran out of time, and for the first time, they faced each other in overtime.
Both goalies made dramatic saves through the overtime period. Then at 14:47 mark, Hanover pushed towards the Mitchell net and Tyson Lina slid a rebound into the back of the Mitchell net for the win.
Hanover outshot Mitchell 49-29 in the game.
The Barons would go 2-for-7 on the power play, Mitchell had the man advantage three times.
Game 7 is Saturday at 8 p.m.
CKNX will have the call.
