WOAA "AA" Playoffs to get underway; Tavistock appeal dismissed

The WOAA Senior Hockey "AA" playoffs will get underway on Friday.

The WOAA review panel dismissed an appeal of a player suspension by the Tavistock Royals meaning there is now no change to the league standings.

In a release, president of the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks Gord Lamon said, "It's time to focus on playoff hockey."

The drama began when a Tavistock Royals player was suspended for roughing during a game last month but dressed for the following two games. The Royals win against Milverton was declared a forfeit, something the Royals unsuccessfully appealed.

All four series in the "AA" playoffs begin Friday:

Mapleton-Minto at Saugeen Shores, 8:30 p.m. Petrolia at Durham, 8:30 p.m. Tavistock at Clinton, 8:30 p.m. Ripley at Huron East, 8:30 p.m.
