Highway 23 roundabout near Mitchell closing for two weeks

Drivers travelling through West Perth are being advised of a major road closure beginning this weekend.

The Municipality of West Perth says the new roundabout at Highway 23 and Perth Line 20, near Russeldale, will be completely closed for two weeks.

The closure begins Sunday, November 8 at 8 p.m. and is scheduled to remain in place until Sunday, November 22 at 8 p.m.

"Local traffic access will be maintained, but no traffic will be permitted through the roundabout," a notice on the municipality's website says.

Motorists will be required to follow posted detour routes during the closure.

The roundabout has been under construction throughout much of 2026 as part of a Ministry of Transportation project aimed at improving the intersection.

Earlier construction work prompted Perth County to install a temporary all-way stop at Perth Road 163 and Perth Line 20 in Fullarton to accommodate increased traffic.

The municipality is asking drivers for patience while the remaining construction work is carried out.
