Witches Walk returns to Blyth in support of homecoming

The Witches Walk will make its return to Blyth next weekend.

Once an annual tradition, the Halloween event has been dormant for over 15 years. But organizers of the Blyth 150th Homecoming said it was time to bring the scares back to North Huron.

"We actually haven't done the Witches Walk since about 2010, so it's been quite a few years that we've run it," said.Rileah Zwep, co-chair of the Blyth 150th. "So from what we can see, people are really excited that we're bringing it back this year."

Zwep said it will be a little different than the previous iteration, but just as good. And for those that have never experienced it, she said it's quite a surprise.

"Think like a haunted house, but we're out on the trail at the G2G. We've got stations set up, different kind of spooky spots that you're going to walk through, themed spots. We've got some really exciting things planned and the brains behind this, Bev Blair has put a lot of work into it. We're really excited," said Zwep.

In terms of audience, Zwep suggests that it's up to parents whether their kids can go through.

"There will be a few scary spots, however the actors won't pick on kids, so we've been telling people to use their discretion," she said.

There also isn't any firm plans to bring the event back next year, so people are encouraged to enjoy it while they can.

The Witches Walk will be held Saturday, October 17, at the G2G Trail in Blyth from 6 to 9 p.m. Entry is by donation, with all proceeds going to support the Blyth 150th.
