Grey Bruce Public Health is issuing another alert after a fatal overdose in the area.
The Health Unit said there were five suspected opioid-related overdoses between August 20 to 24, including one death.
The overdoses occurred in Owen Sound, Saugeen Shores and Hanover. The suspected substance was fentanyl in two cases and unknown in the remaining three cases.
This is the second straight week that GBPH has reported a fatal overdose.
The Health Unit continues to encourage all people who use drugs to have naloxone on hand and always to have a sober friend with them who can administer it.
Naloxone is available at pharmacies and participating community partners, and at the GBPH office from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
People can also get their drugs tested for unknown substances by calling SOS at 519-379-8743.
For those struggling with substance use, local resources are available include: Supportive Outreach Services (SOS), Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) Clinic and Connex Ontario.
