There's lots of local representation on the newest Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Board of Directors.
The election for the 2026-28 term was held at this week's AMO Conference in Ottawa, and six officials on the board are from the region.
Deputy Mayor of Grey Highlands Dane Nielsen, Brockton Councillor Steve Trevale, and Mapleton Councillor Amanda Reid were elected as Rural Caucus Officials.
Meanwhile Grey County Councillor Barbara Dobreen, Huron County CAO Meighan Wark and Wellington County Councillor Diane Ballantyne were all re-elected as County Caucus Officials.
AMO's governing body has 47 elected and non-elected members.
"Hundreds of municipal governments from across Ontario benefit from their membership in AMO. At the same time, their contribution and commitment to working together makes all communities stronger," said AMO President Riley Brockington in a media release.
AMO is a non-profit organization representing 444 municipalities across Ontario, with the goal of strengthening their collective voice and ensuring the perspectives of cities, towns, rural communities and northern municipalities inform provincial and federal decision-making.
"Long-term, sustainable provincial funding is needed to ensure municipalities can continue to deliver the infrastructure and services Ontarians rely on," said Brockington.
The 2026 AMO Conference wraps up on Wednesday.
