Hanover Deputy Mayor Warren Dickert has announced his intent to run for mayor in this fall's municipal election.
Dickert has served as deputy mayor for the past four years and has held a council seat for over a decade. In a statement released by Dickert, he says he is running because Hanover "is at a pivotal moment."
The statement from Dickert highlighted "significant opportunities for growth, continued physician recruitment challenges, and increasing financial pressures facing municipalities."
With that in mind, Dickert believes that the town needs "proven leadership focused on results," his statement read.
Dickert will be running against incumbent Sue Paterson, who recently announced her intention to run for re-election. Paterson has served as Hanover's mayor for 12 years.
"Hanover has tremendous momentum, but the decisions we make over the next four years will shape our community for decades to come," said Dickert. "I'm running for Mayor because I believe we need experienced, collaborative leadership that will protect taxpayers, support responsible growth and ensure Hanover remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family."
