Hanover Mayor Sue Paterson announces intention to seek re-election

Hanover Mayor Sue Paterson has officially announced her intention to seek re-election this fall.

Paterson released a statement on Friday, stating that it has been her "distinct honour" to serve as Hanover's mayor for the past 12 years. Paterson also shared that she remains committed to "leading our community and advancing our shared vision of Hanover as a progressive, welcoming town with a strong small-town character where people feel valued and at home."

New projects that have been recently completed in Hanover were highlighted in Paterson's announcement, including the new fire hall, new water tower, plans for a new police station, and ongoing modernization of local water and wastewater systems.

She also highlighted the "collaborative spirit between Hanover and West Grey" which led to a recent land expansion agreement.

The municipal elections will be held on October 26, 2026.

"I have always been proud to call Hanover my home, and I remain committed to moving our town forward. I want to serve this community with integrity, provide strong leadership, and help plan and build for the future. I have ideas to share, a contribution to make, and a passion for doing the right thing — always," Paterson stated. "It would be an honour to represent Hanover as its mayor for another four-year term. I believe wholeheartedly in our town, and I know that by working together, we can continue to build on our strengths and create a future that supports children, youth, families, and residents of all ages."
