Hanover Police touting success of 'Wanted Wednesday' program

Hanover Police Service is touting the success of its weekly "Wanted Wednesday" feature on social media that is helping to capture wanted individuals.

According to a press release from Hanover Police Chief Chris Knoll, a wanted suspect was recently arrested on June 9 after being featured on "Wanted Wednesday." After being recognized by officers, the wanted suspect sped off on a bike before wiping out and running on foot, only to be apprehended a short time later by police.

The 28-year-old Hanover man wanted on an outstanding warrant was later released from custody with a new court date to answer to the charges.

Chief Knoll's press release shared that the majority of those featured on "Wanted Wednesday" are arrested within a month, in large part due to tips from the community.

In the last few weeks alone, suspects featured on the program have been arrested by Owen Sound Police Service, West Grey Police Service, South Bruce O.P.P., Wellington County O.P.P., Peel Regional Police Service and the Hanover Police Service.
