Hanover's Music in the Square is returning for its sixth year this summer, starting on June 13.
The program brings free, live, local entertainment to Heritage Square on the second and fourth Saturdays of the summer months, complement the Eat Well Farmers’ Market which runs weekly.
New this year is a special event on June 27, the New Resident Welcome Event and Canadian Multiculturalism Day Celebration. Hanover's new residents, as a result of the recent boundary adjustment, have been invited to attend the event to connect with the community and pick up their welcome packages.
There will be a live musical performance by May Ip, as well as children’s performers, Matty Sings and Petunia the Clown.
The Saugeen Artists Guild will also have an exhibit, and Economic Development Manager April Marshall told council they're hoping to attract more local groups to the Square.
"Essentially we want to build on the excitement of whats happening in the Square, and we want to let others know to plan their events around it so that we have greater impact and greater attraction," she said. "We've seen alot of success with this last year when we were able to provide that opportunity... all the while attracting people downtown and building awareness."
Organizations that want to take part are encouraged to reach out to Marshall.
