Three charged in Neyaashiinigmiing drug trafficking investigation

Three locals are facing multiple charges following a joint drug trafficking investigation in Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation.

Grey Bruce OPP says the investigation in partnership with the Neyaashiinigmiing Police Service, began back in December.

Around noon on Thursday, April 30, officers conducted a traffic stop on Rouse Road in South Bruce Peninsula.

The three people, two men and a woman, were arrested and a search warrant was subsequently executed on their motor vehicle.

According to OPP, officers seized a small amount of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $1,000.

Police also searched a residence on Chick's Road in Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation.

As a result, a 33-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman were both charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, and a 36-year-old man faces charges for possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to probation order,

All accused were released and are scheduled to appear in Owen Sound court in June.
