International Women's Day breakfast planned in Grey Bruce

The Women’s Centre Grey Bruce is set to host its Annual International Women’s Day Breakfast to emphasize the vital role women play in fostering a more inclusive society.

The March 7 event at the Best Western Inn on the Bay in Owen Sound will bring together community leaders, advocates, and changemakers from 7:30 to 9 a.m.

Attendees are encouraged to support the Centre’s programs and services through a raffle, 50/50 draw, and interactive games, with all proceeds directly benefiting women, children, and youth striving to build safe and sustainable lives free from abuse and violence.

The Women’s Centre offers a wide range of services, including food and shelter support, counselling, safety planning, skill development, career assistance, family and criminal court guidance, prevention and outreach initiatives, and a 24/7 crisis hotline.

Guests will hear an inspiring keynote from author Gwen Lamont, who will share uplifting Stories from the Road to celebrate women’s experiences and encourage bold action toward gender equity. The global theme is Accelerate Action.

“The Annual International Women’s Day Breakfast is a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of women in our community. It’s a celebration of our achievements and a call to action for continued progress,” said Heather Sheldrick, Executive Director at The Women’s Centre Grey Bruce. “International Women’s Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It’s a day to honor the progress we’ve made and to recognize the work that still needs to be done to achieve gender equality.”

The Women’s Centre Grey Bruce welcomes the community to join this meaningful event to honour trailblazers, raise awareness of pressing issues, and unite in the ongoing effort to accelerate progress toward gender equality.

Tickets and sponsorships are available online, and the Centre is also accepting donations for its silent auction.
