McDonald’s is coming to Walkerton.
The Municipality of Brockton and developer Edificio have announced progress on a new development at 2 Ontario Road that will feature a 5,900-square-foot McDonald's restaurant, along with a 2,000-square-foot MacEwen convenience store and four-pump gas bar.
Matthew Young, Senior Project Manager with Edificio, says the project will bring key services together in one location.
"This development addresses service gaps within the immediate catchment area by bringing food, retail, and fuel services together in one convenient location," said Young. "Improved access to fuel and everyday essentials will enhance convenience and safety for Brockton residents, while reducing the need to travel to neighbouring communities."
The $3.85 million project is expected to create about 15 part-and-full-time jobs when it opens in late summer or early fall of 2026. Construction is currently in the excavation and site preparation phase, with permits secured through Bruce County.
Mayor Chris Peabody says the addition of McDonald’s represents a significant investment in the community.
"This project represents a meaningful investment in Brockton’s future," said Peabody. "By expanding access to essential services and strengthening our commercial base, we are supporting residents and local businesses while building long-term economic resilience."
