Police charge Huron East resident after gunshots fired near snowmobilers

Huron County OPP have arrested and charged one person following an incident that saw gunshots directed toward snowmobilers.

According to police, officers received information that an individual had fired gun shots in the direction of people riding snowmobiles on December 8.

Police tracked down the alleged suspect and arrested and charged them on December 23.

A 60-year-old resident of Huron East now faces five counts of careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition.

Several firearms were seized from the accused as part of the investigation along with their possession acquisition licence (PAL).

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich on February 02, 2026.
