Additional charges laid in firearms incident after cows allegedly injured

A recent firearms incident from November has resulted in more charges after it was discovered cows were injured.

On November 11, Grey Bruce OPP were called just before midnight regarding reports of gunshots and a suspicious vehicle in the Northern Bruce Peninsula.

Officers found and stopped the vehicle, and found a firearm on the suspect in the vehicle.

A 59-year-old Neyaashiinigmiing resident was charged with several firearm‑related and liquor‑related offences.

The investigation remained active, and new information given to police indicated that several cows in the area at the time of the incident had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds, according to police.

Now, the accused faces additional charges of killing or injuring animals and transport a firearm in a dangerous manner.

The accused was released after the initial arrest and has a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.
