Careless driving charge laid after snowplow hit

Huron OPP are reminding drivers of the importance of patience when encountering snowplows after one was clipped by a vehicle that was trying to pass it.

The snowplow driver was clearing snow on London Road in the Municipality of South Huron just after 1 a.m. on December 9 when a pickup truck tried to pass on the right-hand side. The pickup collided with the plow in the process. No injuries were reported.

On Tuesday, police announced a 63-year-old South Huron man has been charged with careless driving in connection with the incident.

"Drivers are reminded to drive carefully, especially during inclement weather events, and practice patience with reduced speed to ensure your safety, and the safety of others using our shared roadways," police said in a statement.
