Gateway CERH launches 'nourish' program to support rural youth wellness

The Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health (Gateway CERH) is taking new steps to support the health and well-being of rural youth through its innovative project, called "nourish."

On Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 12 to 1 p.m., Gateway CERH will host a virtual presentation via Zoom. It will feature featuring Amy Sturgeon, Research Assistant at Gateway CERH and project lead for nourish. During the session, Sturgeon will discuss how rural youth are navigating challenges such as loneliness, academic pressures, and increased digital engagement.

The nourish program takes a holistic approach to youth well-being by integrating movement, nutrition, and mindfulness into its activities, helping participants develop healthy habits while managing stress.

“Anyone in the community is welcome to attend,” said Gateway CERH.

Interested individuals can register for this and future events through the Gateway CERH website at https://www.gatewayruralhealth.ca/lectureseries.

Founded in 2008, Gateway CERH is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the health and quality of life of rural residents through research, education, and communication.
