The Hanover Fire Department is thanking surrounding fire services for their help battling a blaze on Thursday.
On December 18 around 10:20 a.m., emergency services responded to a reported barn fire on Concession 2 SDR in the Municipality of West Grey.
According to the department, crews found a barn on fire and initiated fire suppression operations. Mutual aid was provided by West Grey, Elmwood and Minto Fire Departments to bring the incident under control and prevent the spread to nearby structures.
One individual was assessed on scene by Grey County Paramedic Services for minor injuries.
According to fire officials, the cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The structure is considered a total loss.
Hanover Fire also recognized the Walkerton Fire Department for providing standby coverage at Hanover Fire Station and responding to two additional emergency calls while crews were at the scene.
