Owen Sound fire truck hits school bus

An Owen Sound firefighter has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act following a collision Monday that led to minor injuries for a student.

According to police, just before noon on December 15, emergency services responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of 14th Street West and 2nd Avenue West.

The collision involved an Owen Sound fire truck, a school bus, and a delivery van.

One student from the school bus and the driver of the fire truck were transported to Brightshores Health System for treatment of minor injuries.

Police determined that the fire truck failed to stop for a red light, striking the school bus and delivery van.

The driver of the fire truck has been charged with failure to stop at a red light.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the investigating officer PC Lantz at 519-376-1234.
