Three sickened by mystery substance sprayed on Meaford door

Provincial police are investigating after a strange substance sprayed on a door at a Meaford housing complex made three people sick.

According to Grey Bruce OPP, the three were at the same unit within Victoria Village Housing Complex at 80 Victoria Street when they noticed an orange substance on the door Thursday afternoon. The substance caused a minor irritation with all three people requiring treatment from paramedics.

At this point, there is no indication what the substance was.

Police are asking people in the area to review video surveillance for any suspicious activity between Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon. Anyone with information can call police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

The incident is believed to be an isolated one with no threat to the general public, police said.

The investigation is continuing.
