A local business has pledged $40,000 toward the new Mount Forest outdoor pool.
McFarlane Family Dental made the pledge official on December 5 in a press release from the Township of Wellington North.
The money being pledged by McFarlane Family Dental will specifically go toward the purchase of two lifeguard chairs at the new pool.
To date, over $1.13 million has been pledged to the project, which has a community fundraising goal of $2.5 million. The total project cost is set at $5.3 million.
The new Mount Forest outdoor pool, which will be known as the T.D. Smith Aquatic Centre, will be built next to the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex on Princess Street.
"The Township of Wellington North is deeply grateful for McFarlane Family Dental’s pledge of $40,000 toward the new Mount Forest Outdoor Pool," said Councillor Sherry Burke, chair of the Mount Forest Aquatics Ad-Hoc Advisory Committee. "For the past 46 years, McFarlane Family Dental has been a fixture in and has continually invested in our community. As McFarlane Family Dental is set to enter the next chapter of its service to the community in a brand-new facility, to have their support as we embark on a new chapter in aquatics in Mount Forest is very much appreciated."
"Investing in our community has always been at the heart of our practice," noted Dr. Bob McFarlane of McFarlane Family Dental. "We are proud to contribute to this project to help strengthen the place we all call home."
