A 17-year-old from Palmerston is facing charges after failing to stop for a school bus.
Perth County OPP officers that were conducting traffic enforcement spotted a vehicle in Atwood that failed to stop for a school bus on December 4.
The suspect vehicle then drive down a side road and crashed into a stop sign.
Fortunately, the driver of the vehicle and his four passengers weren't hurt. But during the investigation police found several containers of open alcohol in the vehicle.
As a result, the youth driver is now charged with failing to stop for school bus, careless driving, failing to surrender license, and having care or control of a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor.
The accused was issued Provincial Offence Notices in relation to the charges and released from the scene with $1,305 worth in fines. The accused will have fifteen days to decide if he will pay the fines, contest the charges in provincial court, or meet with the prosecutor to discuss early resolution.
