Snow squalls possible to start the week

The first snow squall watch has been issued for this season.

The watch is in effect for Sarnia-Lambton, Perth County, Huron County, Chatham-Kent, Southern Bruce County, and Elgin County.

Environment Canada says those areas could potentially see 15-30 centimetres of lake effect snow by Tuesday.

“Lake effect snow off Lake Huron is expected to begin impacting Lambton County tonight (Sunday) and possibly locations near the eastern shore of Lake Huron on Monday morning,” Environment Canada said. “Snow squalls may extend towards Lake Erie as well. Northerly winds are expected to become northwesterly late Monday into early Tuesday. As a result, lake effect snow will further impact areas to the east and southeast of Lake Huron.”

Environment Canada is warning drivers that travel may be dangerous, noting visibility may suddenly be reduced to near zero at times.

Drivers are reminded to be prepared for the possibility of deteriorating travel conditions.
