Saugeen Shores new Pryde Aquatic and Wellness Centre is almost complete, so Town council is moving forward selling it's old public pool.
During closed session at Monday's meeting, council decided to dispose of the existing Centennial Pool by selling it to the Bluewater District School Board.
The pool will be decommissioned by the town, costing roughly $50,000. After that the BWDSB intends to purchase and repurpose the space.
"This agreement is truly a win-win for both the Town and the School Board," said Mayor Luke Charbonneau. "As we prepare for a new chapter of recreation in Saugeen Shores, we are thrilled to see this space reimagined to benefit the youth of our growing community."
The Town says its location, connected to Saugeen District Secondary School, makes the transition a natural fit.
The parcel of land and the portion of the building housing the pool will be purchased by the BWDSB following approvals from the School Board Trustees and the Ministry of Education.
