Saugeen Shores naming Aquatic Wellness Centre after local Pryde family

The Town of Saugeen Shores will name its new Aquatic and Wellness Centre after long-time community partners Brad and Kathy Pryde.

The Pryde's kicked off the fundraising campaign for the new centre with a $1 million donation toward the facility.

Kristan Shrider, Director of Community Services, said the town had run renderings of the proposed signage by the Pryde's and now the only step was to endorse the naming.

"Brad and Kathy are not just long-time community members of Saugeen Shores, they are pillars and leaders of our community," said Shrider. "Their passion fingerprint is left on almost everything they touch. Brad works with the town and his team to improve and develop bushland trails between Port Elgin and Southampton. One of Kathy's favourite spots to be is with participants, volunteers and the horses at the PRANCE facility. And now this, stepping up to lead to lead the fundraising for the AWC."

The Pryde Aquatic and Wellness Centre is slated to have its grand opening in December.

To date, the Town has raised over $2.6 million toward its $3 million goal.
