Nominations open for Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame 2026 inductions

The Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame is inviting the public to help celebrate the city’s sporting legacy by nominating deserving athletes, teams, and sports community builders for the 2026 inductions.

A new online nomination form has been introduced this year to make submissions simple and accessible. Paper nomination forms are also available on the City of Owen Sound website or by request. All nominations must be submitted by December 31, 2025.

Nominees can be considered in three categories: individual athletes, teams, and sports community builders. Details about induction criteria and a full list of past inductees are available at OwenSound.ca/SportsHallofFame.

Originally established in 1981 by the Ramoca Shrine Club and the Knights of Columbus, the Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame was created to honour those who have shaped the community’s sporting history, either through athletic achievement or through leadership and dedication to sport.

The City’s Parks and Recreation Committee endorsed the continuation of the Hall in 1984, and the exhibit underwent a major renovation in 2004 at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.

To date, more than 200 individuals and teams have been inducted, with new members honoured every two years.
