Huron County OPP has announced charges for two men following a break and enter to a retail business in Exeter on Friday.
Around 3 a.m. on September 26, police responded to a report of suspicious activity in a locked compound at a business on Main Street South.
Officers arrived to find a rental truck had been backed onto the property and one suspect running from the scene.
Police said the rental truck was found to have been stolen from London, and a rifle and replica handgun were located in the truck.
Officers from the OPP West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), and OPP West Region K-9 were deployed to the scene.
The K-9 track successfully located two suspects, one of whom police allege was in possession of a replica handgun.
Both suspects were arrested and charged.
A 21-year-old from Acton is facing charges including break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose, disguise with intent and resisting a peace officer.
A 59-year-old from London is also facing charges including: break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose and three counts of possession of firearm contrary to prohibition order.
The pair were held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody. They will appear in Goderich court at a future date.
