Police search for suspect after vehicle fire and truck theft

South Bruce OPP are searching for a stolen vehicle after a dramatic incident near Port Elgin.

Police say around 7:45 Sunday, September 14, a blue pickup truck crashed and caught fire on B Line, south of Highway 21 in Arran-Elderslie. The driver fled into the bush, then returned to steal another truck from a resident who had stopped to help.

The suspect, a shirtless man, possibly with burn injuries, was last seen driving a black 2002 GMC Sierra with Ontario plates CA25996, a silver hood, and a tonneau cover.

Anyone with information is asked to contact OPP or Crime Stoppers.
