Chesley kicks off Homecoming with new mural

There's a new mural brightening up Chesley's downtown, just in time for its 145th Homecoming celebrations.

A joint project between the Kinsmen Club of Chesley and the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie, the mosaic mural was unveiled this week on the side of Bijou Theatre at the corner of First Avenue South and Third Street Southwest.

The mural is created from hundreds of images submitted by residents, showing individual snapshots of Chesley’s favorite places and traditions. The images all form a larger picture of Big Bruce, the town’s iconic Hereford bull statue.

"This project has been a meaningful way for our club to give back to the community and help celebrate Chesley’s history and spirit," said Jeff Holding, President of the Chesley Kinsmen Club in a media release. "We’re proud to be part of something that honours the town and involves so many local voices."

The mural’s unveiling kicks off a week of celebration leading into Chesley’s Homecoming, running July 31 to August 3, 2025.
