Huron County OPP says it will have officers out all weekend, monitoring traffic for those headed to popular destinations along Lake Huron.
In a social media video released Thursday, police offered a warning for drivers, particularly those headed to Grand Bend.
Inspector Laura Lee Brown said reduced speed limits are in place.
"Dashwood Road, otherwise known as Hwy. 83, is a common throughway... and although this is a great way to travel, it's currently under construction," she said.
Sections of the road have had speed limits reduced to 30 km/h.
Lambton Shores Mayor Doug Cook said they're expecting thousands of visitors to the community this weekend for the unofficial start to summer.
"We're asking people, if you are going to come join us this holiday weekend, exercise some additional caution and patience. It might take you a little bit longer, but you're still going to get to your destination safely," said Brown. "Please be advised that we'll be out all over the county, but as long as you follow the rules of the road, it should be a great long weekend for all of us."
