IWD Breakfast draws record crowd in Southampton

The International Women's Day Breakfast held in Southampton has been deemed a success.

The event, hosted by the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce at The Walker House last Friday morning, drew roughly 100 people from around the region. That was a new attendee record for the annual event.

The breakfast included three keynote speakers - Warden of Grey County Andrea Matrosovs, Port Elgin-based Nuclear Innovation Institute President and CEO Jessica Lindthorne, and Manager of the Grey Bruce Settlement and Language Services with YMCA Owen Sound Grey Bruce Suneet Kukruja.

"Everyone in attendance was truly inspired by these three women who are shaping our region through innovation, leadership, social impact, resilience, and determination. Their courage and drive are opening doors and creating opportunities for all," the Chamber of Commerce said in a statement Monday morning.

The theme of Friday's breakfast was "accelerate action", which the Chamber said aimed to remind the public of the "importance of creating inclusive environments that support women's voices, equality, and opportunities across all sectors."

Donations were also collided at the event for Women's House serving Bruce Grey, Women's Centre Grey Bruce, and Kabaeshiwim Respit.
