Huron County has officially opened up applications for two local funding streams.
The SLED or Supporting Local Economic Development program is a funding program that makes money available to projects that address the strategic priorities of the county.
Those include projects by registered non-profits, BIAs, Chambers of Commerce, arts organizations, sector organizations, and municipal partners, with funding up to $10,000. The deadline to submit is April 17, 2025 at 4:30 p.m.
New this year is the AccessSLED program. This initiative offers funding grants of up to $1,000 to support projects that enhance accessibility and inclusivity throughout Huron County.
Eligible applicants include private local businesses, retail, and services, municipal buildings, non-profit organizations, community centres, and recreational facilities, local hospitality, tourism, restaurants, and other food establishments (excluding franchises), arts and cultural venues and e-commerce platforms catering to Huron County residents.
The deadline to submit to either program is April 17, 2025 at 4:30 p.m.
For the SLED program, eligible projects must take place in Huron County and focus on one of the priorities from the THRIVE 2022-2025 Economic Development Strategic Plan:
1. Re-engagement, education/skills development, attraction and/or retention of
workforce;
2. Impacts business districts, key industry sectors and/or investment attraction
readiness;
3. Advances community development, tourism sector development and/or the
promotion of local food;
4. Projects focused on youth and/or newcomers building a stronger sense of
community.
