Benmiller Softball pleads for volunteers

The Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has issued an urgent call for volunteers to keep a local sports league alive.

According to a notice issued this week, Benmiller Softball is at risk of folding if it can't enlist more volunteers help to run the youth programming.

Part of the Tri-County Minor Softball League, which is made up of teams from Huron, Bruce, and Perth counties, the Benmiller program offers softball for ages four to 15, in both boys and girls divisions.

The program is looking for community members to help recruit and support volunteer coaches; communicate team rosters to coaches, players, and parents; organize team equipment; attend league meetings; and manage the email account.

"If we don’t get enough support, we’ll be forced to cancel the season, leaving kids without the opportunity to play in their own community," said Cathy Gibson, Administrative Assistant.

The Township is looking for responses by Friday, February 21, 2025 to keep the program going.

If you're interested in helping, please reach out Gibson at admin@acwtownship.ca.
