New website and logo for AMDSB Adult and Continuing Education Program

Avon Maitland District School Board has a new website and updated look for its Adult and Continuing Education Programs.

Kendra Brohman, Principal of Adult and Continuing Education with AMDSB, says they offer numerous programs for current students and adults, including a PSW program, English as a second language, skills upgrading programs and more. She adds the programs are available throughout the area.

"So we have sites for tutoring in Wingham, Listowel, Clinton, Goderich, Mitchell, Stratford and Exeter, both after school and evenings, and we have very capable tutors there, including retired teachers and university grads that can help students right up to their Grade 12 university math and science courses," Brohman stated.

After it was recently announced that the old AMDSB Centre for Employment & Learning would no longer be providing employment services, a new name was chosen. The newly renamed Centre for Education & Learning has a new logo and a new website location which can be found at amdsb.ca/CEL.

"So at amdsb.ca/CEL, you can see the different programs we have, a little more detail on each of those programs, and then there's a schedule for each of our sites along with the exact location," noted Brohman.

Brohman says the adult programs they offer appeal to anyone from 18 to senior citizens.

"I think we had a grad last year that was over 80-years-old. So, they all come with their varying reasons for wanting to get some high school credits, but yeah, it's an amazing opportunity and I know that the school board puts a lot of value in making sure that education's available to anyone who wants to access it," Brohman added.

As part of this transition, the CEL physical locations are also moving and hours of operations are shifting. The newly renamed Centre for Education & Learning has a new logo and a new website location which can be found at amdsb.ca/CEL.

"We are thrilled to continue offering our valuable learning programs for youth and adults. These programs provide support for our current students and for those in our community looking for learning opportunities outside of the grade K to 12 system," said Jane Morris, Superintendent of Education for AMDSB.
