The Municipality of Kincardine is preparing for its first budget cycle with the province's new Strong Mayor Powers, and it's asking for the public's help in shaping priorities.
The new legislation means Mayor Ken Craig will prepare and propose the annual budget to Council and the public. Council can then make amendments to the proposed budget.
As always, public consolation will play a key part in shaping the budget priorities, and the Municipality is providing several ways for residents to share their thoughts this summer.
"I am looking forward to hearing the opinions and recommendations of our municipal council, our staff, our community organizations, and our community residents and visitors," said Mayor Craig in a release. "Budget preparation has changed, and the change was unexpected. Community participation is really important again this year."
There will be open houses in Kincardine in the Penetangore Room of the Davidson Centre. The first is on Wednesday, July 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. The second will take place on Saturday, August 23, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There will also be sessions Tiverton at the Whitney Crawford Community Centre on Saturday, July 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Thursday, August 14, from 4 to 7 p.m.
There will also be a 10-minute survey available in hard copy at the Municipal Administration Centre, or online. The deadline to complete a survey is 4:30 p.m. on August 24, 2025.
