A major transition is ahead for employment services in Huron County.
The Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) will step away from its contract with Employment Ontario, making way for Agilec to take over on February 1, 2025.
Cameron Bullock, Vice-president of Operations at Agilec, explained they are honoured to expand their expertise into Huron County.
“We are honoured to expand our expertise into Huron County, marking an exciting chapter in our mission to empower people, strengthen communities, and create positive change in the lives of those we serve,” said Bullock. “Our goal has always been to build impactful connections between job seekers and employers, and we look forward to providing employment services that drive success and foster economic growth in this community.”
Bullock said Agilec is a leader in employment services with over 40 years of experience.
"Our contract is just in Huron County," Bullock continued. "Our base is going to be in Goderich, and then we will have itinerant services in Wingham, Clinton, and Exeter."
Bullock added the company’s mission is to connect job seekers with meaningful careers and strengthen local workforces.
"So our candidates are kind of made up of two aspects, so we can support employers with their employment needs," he said. "And then the candidates that we are working with to help overcome employment barriers or in their employment journey, any candidate that is legally able to work in Canada is able to register in our service for free."
AMDSB will continue to offer adult education in both Huron and Perth counties.
“We are thrilled that Agilec will be taking over this important service for residents of Huron county and we look forward to continuing our support in the area of adult education," said Jane Morris, Superintendent of Education. "We are confident that the transition to this new provider will be smooth with little or no disruption to service."
