March 16 marks the day that NHL alumni will face-off against local firefighters, led by the Central Huron Fire Department, in support of Huron Hospice.
It all takes place at Eastlink Arena in Clinton at 7:30 p.m.
"The money goes to support the nursing care at Huron Hospice," said Christopher Walker, manager of fund development at Huron Hospice. "It's really important because that's 24/7 care for families who are on that difficult end of life journey."
Last year, the NHL Alumni team consisted of Dave McIlwain, Tom Fergus, Mark Laforest, Larry Murphy, and Darryl Shannon.
Although this year's alumni roster has not yet been confirmed, Walker said the game will not disappoint.
"What's really exciting is seeing hockey players that we used to see on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday nights," said Walker. "Seeing them in person playing against our local firefighters is a really fun game."
The game is all volunteer driven, with volunteers as the linesmen, timekeepers, and accepting tickets on the door.
"Our volunteers are really important people for us, but they add to the fun for the event as well," he said.
Tickets can be bought through Christopher Walker for $35 per ticket, $60 for two, or four for $100. Walker can be contacted at 519-525-7352 or by email at chris.walker@huronhospice.ca.
