The Salvation Army Wiarton has received a generous $29,000 donation from 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce, following the group's November meeting.
Roni Delleman, Community and Family Services Manager for the Salvation Army, said the donation will have a profound impact.
“This generous $29,000 donation will do more than support our mission – it will create valuable opportunities for building relationships that lead to lasting transformation," said Delleman. "This money will assist us in nurturing strong connections, which will enable individuals to flourish and ignite positive change that extends far beyond the gift itself.”
“The Salvation Army Wiarton provides many programs in our community including a Community and Family Services (CFS) Department which offers a variety of programs," Delleman continued. "One of these programs is the management and operations of the Bruce Peninsula Community Food Bank, distributing over 32,000 kilograms of food per annum. The CFS Department assists clients with essentials such as clothing, shelter, utilities, Christmas hampers, and connections with other services that will assist in improving quality of life and basic needs. Trades Start is a life-changing program offered at the Salvation Army Wiarton Community Church. Participants begin with a one-week, in-house orientation followed by skills training for a period of 3-6 weeks.“
The Salvation Army Wiarton works to support and enhance the quality of life for the residents of Grey Bruce communities, a focus shared by both the Salvation Army and 100 Women Who Care.
The Salvation Army Wiarton serves residents of South Bruce Peninsula, Georgian Bluffs, and North Bruce Peninsula with extensive programs aimed at enhancing quality of life. These include seniors’ luncheons, children’s literacy programs, and the Pathway of Hope one-on-one support initiative.
In 2024, 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce donated $107,100 to four local charities: the Salvation Army Wiarton, M’Wikwedong Indigenous Friendship Centre, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the YMCA Stepping Stone to Home program.
As the group looks to 2025, it aims to grow and make an even bigger impact in the Grey Bruce region.
