Habitat for Humanity Huron County marked another significant milestone on December 3 as it continues its mission to create affordable home ownership opportunities for families.
The latest Habitat build, located on Anglesea Street in Goderich, took a major step forward with the delivery and placement of the home’s frame by Royal Homes.
For Lori and her children, the day was especially meaningful.
“Today was such a good day watching our home be delivered and it felt so good to know that my kids and I will have a secure place to call home," she said. "Watching it being delivered made it seem so real today and I feel so grateful and excited to start making memories in our new home and we can't wait to move in.”
The project, overseen by Habitat Huron County's Board Chair, Bill McAuslan, represents months of planning.
“This installation was the culmination of a lot of preparation," said McAuslan. "Over the next six months, a Habitat crew of staff, volunteers, and a number of contractors will transform a construction project into a finished home.”
Since 2005, Habitat Huron County has empowered 17 families by providing access to affordable housing and fostering stronger futures. This latest build in Goderich is yet another example of how community collaboration can change lives.
“It’s the best Christmas present ever," exclaimed Lori. "I loved watching the excited expressions on my kids’ faces as they saw their bedroom windows for the first time and I loved listening to them as they planned where we are going to put our Christmas tree next year, today was such a good day and I feel very thankful.”
