A blood donation event will be held on New Year's Eve in Mount Forest.
Canadian Blood Services (CBS) is welcoming donors to come out to the Mount Forest Recreation Complex on December 31 from 11:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
CBS notes that it's typically harder to collect donations during the last two weeks of December, but that also tends to be a time when blood is critically needed.
Platelets, which are part of every blood donation, have a shelf life of only seven days. They are a vital blood component that helps make blood clot. One of the most common uses for platelets is to treat cancer patients.
Canadian Blood Services asks that if you make an appointment, try to keep it. Missed or cancelled appointments at this time of year are difficult to fill.
Book an appointment now by downloading the GiveBlood app, calling 1-888-2 DONATE (1-888-236-6283) or booking online at blood.ca.
