The Lion's Head Legion held an event to celebrate the completion of repairs that were aided by provincial funding.
The legion received a $25,900 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) back in 2022 to fix the east wall foundation and to install new flooring in the hall.
On Friday, local MPP Rick Byers met with the executive and community members to learn about how the grant was able to help extend the life of the century-old building.
"It was great to be with the excellent team at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 202 to celebrate the Branch’s receipt of its Ontario Trillium Foundation grant," said Byers. "The Branch looks wonderful, congratulations!"
The Legion says the project will give people in the community improved and safer access, while the new flooring will ensure a safer hall for activities and events by using non-skid materials for the floor.
The OTF invested more than $110 million into 1,044 community projects and multi-sector partnerships in 2023. The OTF requires all grant recipients to hold recognition events as part its contract.
