Bruce Trail Day will be celebrated on Sunday, October 6 with events and guided hikes taking place across various sections of the trail.
Hosted annually by the Bruce Trail Conservancy and its local trail clubs, the event showcases the natural beauty of the Niagara Escarpment and Canada's oldest and longest marked footpath.
In Grey County, the Beaver Valley Bruce Trail Club, in partnership with Grey Sauble Conservation Authority, will host a day of activities at Eugenia Falls Conservation Area. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., visitors can participate in free, guided hikes and family-friendly activities. The day will include two guided hikes, a 3-kilometre trail at 10 a.m. offering views of Eugenia Falls and Cuckoo Valley, and two options at 1 p.m.: a family-friendly 2-kilometre hike with on-trail activities, or a leisurely 3-kilometre hike with more views of the valley. Parking fees will be waived for the day, and visitors are encouraged to make donations to the club or conservation authority. Preregistration is recommended, but not necessary via beavervalley.ca.
Elsewhere, the Sydenham Bruce Trail Club will hold its events at Harrison Park in Owen Sound. From 1 to 3:30 p.m., visitors can learn about year-round hiking programs, volunteer opportunities, and conservation efforts along the Bruce Trail. The club will also launch its new Youth Hiking Program, designed to engage children up to age 18 in outdoor exploration and environmental learning. Attendees can join family discovery hikes, nature walks, and scavenger hunts throughout the park.
In Northern Bruce Peninsula, the Peninsula Bruce Trail Club will be hosting events at Cape Croker Park from noon to 2 p.m., with family-friendly activities, social events, and children's games. The club will also hold guided hikes at various times during the day. Preregistration is required at pbtc.ca/hikes
