Sticker shock prompted Bruce County council to defer a decision on expanding the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre's archival storage.
A report to council recommended staff determine final cost estimates for a 12,000 square foot expansion, while putting $255,000 aside for the next seven years to help cover the cost.
However, the report also estimated it would cost over $13 million to build it, with over $9 million for construction.
The report suggested that about $3 million could be acquired in federal grants, and another $2.3 million could be come thourhg fundraising. But staff has now been asked to look at other options to expand storage, as room is running out at the museum.
By this year, the collections capacity will be completely full and by 2029 the archives will be completely full
