The Gateway Centre for Excellence in Rural Health is set to host the latest edition of its lecture series.
Rural Transport Medicine: A Broader National Look at Rural Transport/EMS is the latest in the virtual series, and it will be presented Tuesday, October 1 from 12–1 p.m. via Zoom.
This latest episode in the series is presented by Dr. Sean Moore, who has many roles in providing emergency services. Dr. Moore is an emergency physician working in Kenora, Ontario and acts as the Chief of Staff at Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
He is a leader in emergency services through his roles as Northern Medical Director for the Ornge Air medical transport program, associate medical director with CritiCall Ontario, and as an assistant professor at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine University. He has a passion for health equity for rural and indigenous populations.

Additionally, the Gateway Centre has welcomed two new staff members in the form of students who will fill the roles of Social Science Research Assistants.
Meagan Tamming recently graduated from Lakehead University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. As a new Social Science Research Assistant at Gateway CERH she will contribute to the Farmers Safety and Well-Being Projects. During her academic career, Meagan developed a passion for rural health issues, particularly within Indigenous health and substance abuse prevention. Outside of her academic and professional pursuits, Meagan enjoys cooking, painting, and traveling.
Neeliah Lewis recently graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree. As a new Social Science Research Assistant at Gateway Rural Health, she will contribute to the SHARP and BRAVE-F Projects. During her academic career, Neeliah developed a passion for rural health issues, particularly within mental health and well-being, preventive health care, and health ethics. Outside of her academic and professional life, Neeliah enjoys traveling, playing sports, and spending time with friends and family.
